Crazy Week

First off, Monday I woke up and discovered that my lovely Ball Python snake, Satine, had passed away. It's totally my fault for not feeding her but mostly for not keeping her watered. I feel really bad that I'm the cause of her death. It was a shock to me and a cried a lot that day. I cleaned up her things and washed out her tank. It's still sitting on the living room dresser waiting to go outside to the garage. I buried Satine by the rosebushes.

I didn't get much done on Monday because I was numb. But I did manage to get my laundry cleaned. I didn't get any of my room cleaned like I wanted to. In fact all week I haven't really done any room stuff. I did get my laundry washed on Monday and folded and put away on Thursday. I also took two items to the dry cleaner this week. I've never done that before. But they really needed to be cleaned. I picked them up the next day.

Probably the biggest reason I haven't got anything done is because of jury duty. I was called in Tuesday morning. At 8:30am. I was almost late because it was snowing and very slushy on the roads so traffic was slow. I did take trax but it took me longer then normal to get to the station. I was running out the door to begin with. I had to scrape the snow off my car. Then traffic was slow. Then I slid into the parking spot going up on the sidewalk. (The car is fine.) Then the train was coming so I ran from my car to meet it and a slipped on the slush and fell. Oh and then I finished getting ready on the train. I put my socks on and took off my blue nail polish. It was a fabulous morning. *Rolls eyes* But I surprisingly still made it to the courthouse ten minutes early.

So jury duty on Tuesday ... I was in the second half of prospective jurors for that day. I was given the number 13 and was known by that only. Questions later and I was picked to be one of eight members of the jury. The case we were hearing was for three accounts of aggravated assault by the defendant to which he had plead not guilty. We were in county court because the incident involved county police not just citizens and police for that particular city. ... So we are picked. The judge tells us a little bit about the case and the charges. Then we break for lunch. ... We have a hour and a half. I have no cash. I walk to Subway to find out if I have enough points on my card to get a sandwich. I can't remember where the Subway is downtown so I wandered a bit too much. (Ends up it was a couple more blocks down from where I was looking.) I get to Subway and I don't have enough points. So I call my brother who works downtown. Turns out he is home that day so I can't get money from him. So I just go back to the courthouse and waited for the bailiff to come bring us back to the courtroom. ...

By the way, that bailiff that escorted us around on Tuesday was super cute! And he was really friendly. I liked him a lot. Seriously. He was hott. Maybe it was just the uniform but I don't think so because the other bailiffs were not that good looking.

Back to the courtroom we went. We hear testimony from several different witnesses including all three people whom the defendant allegedly assaulted. We took a break about two hours into it all (around three o'clock). They had cookies and soda and water bottles waiting for us in the jurors room during that break. We all liked that. ... Then we go back and hear more witness testimonies. ... At about 5pm we break for the day. Oh yeah. Did I mention this was an expected two day case? lol.

So I go home and crashed. I was so tired. It's really tiring just sitting in a courtroom that is really quiet if no one is talking a listening to the same story four different times. lol. I don't know how judges do that all the time.

So the next day, Wednesday, we were instructed to be at the courthouse at 9:30am. So I get there and we are escorted up to the jurors room and wait. The judge wanted to speak to us. Turns out that the lawyers and the defendant settled it that morning without needing us. So we went in for an hour and then were let go. (We still get paid for that second day too.)

The defendant took a deal taking the guilt for one aggravated assault charge but not the other two. We, the jury, talked about it out by the elevators and agreed with the deal. The other two stories didn't match up at all and were a little to opinionated which is why they offered the deal in the first place. The witnesses were telling different things then what the lawyer knew about. It was great. The one account that we agreed on (that the defendant took the rap for) was aggravated assault against a police woman. She was in an unmarked police vehicle but in full uniform. She felt threatened and was going to shoot him. But by the time she got the truck in park and was going to flip her lights on he was gone. It was the one account we all really believed was aggravated assault. But like I said the jury didn't have to deliberate on it because the defendant took that plea deal. I don't what the sentence will be. They had not determined sentencing when the judge and the lawyers talked to us.

So that's my first jury duty experience. Going in and being picked for an estimated two-day trial. And then having it settle out of court so I didn't have to decide anything. I learned a lot. And I actually had a lot of fun doing something completely different.

Wednesday after I left the courthouse I had lunch with Chad, who works downtown. That was a lot of fun. I want to do that more often. :)

Last Weekend

Saturday night was the Utah vs. BYU rivalry game. I worked all day from 10am until just before 9pm. The game started at 8pm. It was such a late game. Utes won in the end, 24-21. The game ended around midnight.

My cousin's mission homecoming talk was yesterday. It was really good. I also enjoyed the speaker after her. I thought their talks want very well together.

I fed Satine last week. She got two mice. It's odd because after she ate the first mouse it didn't look like she ate anything. But after the second mouse it looked like she ate. She had a tiny bulge in her stomach. lol. She hasn't moved much since I fed her. She's just hanging out on the heat. She should be moving around more in the next couple of days.

Eggs, Scales, and Pages

So I was typing and typing this blog post and then I hit some key and deleted the entire entry. Which is fine I can just undo it and it should come back, right? Wrong! Blogger auto-saved my blank document right when that happened. Normally I like the auto-save feature but not right now. I wish it was more like Microsoft Word's auto-save. It saves every 20 minutes after you initially save the document. Or something like that. I know it auto-saves at a good length of time, not after every minute of change. So yeah, now I have to retype all that I was talking about. And it was so long and good. I'm annoyed and not in the mood to retype it all. Grrr!

* Twelve hours later *

Okay, let’s type this …

For Easter Chad and Amber and family came and spent Sunday with us. Cayden and Laura are still adorable. lol. We colored eggs and I helped Cayden. First Cayden and I colored an egg using crayon while Mom mixed the dyes. Then we dipped it in green for a few seconds and Cayden was fascinated. The egg went from white to green before his very eyes. lol. After that we didn’t color with crayon. We proceeded to dye all dozen eggs that were allotted to Cayden different colors. He kept picking purple but I think that’s because it was the closest color to him. I am really surprised I didn’t get any dye on my clothes. We came close to spilling a few times. I had to keep reminding Cayden that the spoon stays in the cup. lol. I tried to vary the length of time that the egg got dyed so there was some sort of variety in color. I think Cayden had a lot of fun. I know Amber got some photos of Cayden egg dyeing. They are on her blog.

Since Kim and I haven’t had a girl’s night out for a few months we decided to plan one for this week. The plan is to go to dinner and a movie. I was actually thinking it’d be fun to see ‘The Hunger Games’. That will be fun to hang out with Kim. It’s been way to long since the two of us had our Girl night.

For FHE on Monday they played games outside. They had Capture the Flag and several Frisbees. We brought our Bocce ball set and played some of that with a few people few the first bit. Mostly I tossed a Frisbee around. Eric has this really awesome one that goes really far. I like that one. I can’t remember what it’s called. I think I got a few mosquito bites when the sun went down.

When we were leaving FHE I got asked on a date for this weekend. On Saturday I have a date with a guy named Colton. I really like talking with Colton we always laugh a lot. He is really funny. I have actually thought it’d be fun to go out with Colton but I haven’t asked him. So it’s nice that he asked me. lol. I’m not sure what we’re doing yet but it’ll be fun.

After FHE we watched TRON (the original, not TRON: Legacy) that Eric borrowed from the library. Colton and I weren’t really paying attention to the movie in the first place so we went upstairs and played on the Wii. We played a couple of rounds of Wii Sports golf. Then we switched over to LEGO Star Wars (which I have been slightly obsessed with that game lately. It’s really fun. I like it.) We played with some of the extras on like the one where all of our characters where glasses and mustache disguises. lol. General Grievous and C-3PO look really funny with those on. lol.

I fed Satine last week. The intent was to feed her two mice. But she only ate one. She killed both but she didn’t eat the second one. I’m not sure if she just didn’t want it or if her shedding (or lack thereof) contributed. She couldn’t really see of feel very well because she still had dead skin on her head. The night I fed her I let her alone in her cage. But the next afternoon I took her out and helped her shed all that skin off. She was flaky shedding so I just took a warm washcloth and rubbed from her neck to her tail a few times. Her dead skin came right off and she is so pretty. Then I went to town on getting the skin off her head. I carefully peeled off the skin from her nose and the chunk of skin went from her nose off her eyes and down her neck a little. It was cool. I had a little piece to get off the top of her head. But that was it really. Satine seemed so happy after she could see and breathe better. She still has some skin on her neck but if I can’t easily get it off then I leave it alone. I don’t want to hurt her. lol. When I was getting all the skin off of Satine (both her head and her body) she just sort of sat there. She seemed so relaxed. And she seemed really happy after she could see. lol. If she could smile I’m sure she would have.

For past couple of weeks I have been waiting for my book to get to the library. I few days ago I finally got it. I am reading Tess of the D’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy. I have seen the BBC mini-series that was done a couple of years ago so reading the book is great. I don’t remember much of the show though so it’s still new to me. I do know that the Alexander character that she just met is not to be trusted. I keep telling her not to go because he is bad. But of course Tess doesn’t listen to me. lol.

Spaces and Spots

I feel like I haven't written for a while. And there are fun stuff to write about. lol.

I have my 2012 planner/calender all set. I'm glad I have it done that way I don't have to do it in the new year. I even wrote in what my Grobie Sister's addresses. That way I'd have them for easy access. I highlighted birthdays and anniversaries like I always do. I even penciled in some key events that I already know about. At the back I have a list of birthdays and anniversaries for my family. I put it on a shipping label in the very back cover of the planner. I think I'll do that from now on. It is very convenient.I like that I have to carry around two planners every December. It's funny. I'm glad they are different colors or else I would get really confused. lol.

I have been moving into the "new" bedroom the past week or so. It's all painted and ready. I moved furniture in with some help. Dad had said I can't put anything on the shelves for a couple of days so I haven't done that yet. I know I can now but I've been busy. The only things in there, besides the furniture, is the books on the tall bookshelf and my hanging up clothes. I plan on moving my drawer clothes in there tonight. (I did laundry yesterday and I need to fold them.) I have been sleeping on my bed but it isn't totally made. I put a blanket on top of the mattress which I sleep on top of. And I have my two comforters on top of that. I need to put the bed-skirt and correct sheets on the bed. It fun to have my saucer chair back. I like sitting in it and reading or being on the laptop. Although It does need some big pillow for back support. I guess I'll pull out my toss pillows from the garage when I go looking for the sheets. I might not have any stuff put away but I pretty much planned it all out on paper (random sketches) already. So it shouldn't take too long to put everything where it is going to belong. I am hoping that everything will have a spot and I will be able to keep this room clean. I feel like the other room had no room. lol. I post pictures soon.

Satine is still in the other room. I did find her a new heat pad. It is not what I was looking for but it still works great. It's probably better because it can hide completely underneath the tank because it is a small heat pad. While I was at the pet store, where the heat pad was bought, I saw something that I thought Satine would like. Since she is a python and likes to hang from stuff I got her some bamboo branches. I haven't put them in yet but I'm sure she'll like them.

The Saturday Song posts for December need to be created but I know what songs are going with what week, so that part is done. They are all Christmas songs but they are my favorite. I listed all my favorites and then picked five I really like. I might do a bonus post because I really want to do one song but it is instrumental.

I have been thinking I might make a quilt to go on my bed. It's just gonna be a light blanket sort of quilt that is bigger then a queen-size. I can use it for when I watch movies and stuff too. I want to make it with greens, teals, some white, and possibly a park purple for pizazz. I want it to bigger then a queen-size so that I looks good on my bed. I have to figure out the measurements still. I think a king-size would be too big. I really like the pattern (or lack of pattern) of this green quilt so I was thinking of doing something similar. But I also don't want binding (hard to explain that ... I'll have to show you) and I plan on tying the blanket with white yarn. It'll have a thin batting in the middle for warmth and stability.

I have been watching 'Stargate SG-1' still. I am on season five. Since I started working I have slowed down on watching them. I think I have four or five more episodes until the end of the season.

This weekend Kimberlee and I went to dinner and to see 'Breaking Dawn'. I thought the movie was really good. It follows the book really well which is great. They split the four book into two movies and I like where this first one left off. I think it;s perfect. I really liked the second half of the book so it;ll be interesting to see how they do that. The second part comes out in November, 2012. (I thought it came out in the spring but I guess I was wrong.)

Dad has been redoing the bathroom for a while now. He painted the room and redid the counter top already. And he ripped out the shower. I think they picked out tile because Dad is going to tile the shower on Wednesday. And then the shower glass guys have to come and install the door soon after that. So I think I get to have the bathroom back next week or the week after. Right now I am sharing the upstairs bathroom with Steven.

Frivolous Day

Okay so I haven't been blogging very regularly. I blame work. lol.

Today I had work off. I went and did some frivolous shopping while looking for a new heat pad for Satine. I went to Walmart and Target. I got three Christmas cds, a placemat, a starburst cocktail ring, some gum, a 2012 planner (it lime green!), and a heart pendant. I did not, however, find a heat pad without an automatic shut off. So I'll have to get that from Amazon like I did before. First I'll look at Walgreens and Rite Aid and see if they have any.

They make me happy. :)
Heart pendant and Starburst cocktail ring.

P.S. More about the placemat and ring to come later.

I also had an eye doctor appointment this afternoon. I have been needing to go get a check up for some time now. It's been three years since my last check up and new glasses. My perscription changed three points. Which isn't bad at all. But it really makes a difference. Maybe I'll ask for new lenses for Christmas. lol.

I have been cleaning my room a lot the last couple of days whenever I have time. Like really cleaning. I have turned into a pack-rat. lol. I am throwing away all of the magazines that I have collected minus the sample fragrances. lol. I like to keep those for random occasions. And they smell good. They make me happy. My favorite one so far is Beauty by Calvin Klein. I would buy a bottle but it expensive. lol. Maybe someday I'll get a tiny bottle. (Actually, they have a roller application "bottle" for $25. That's not bad. And I like that method. I have some Velocity perfume that does that.)

I have been trying to think of how I want my room to look in the new room. lol. (Yeah. That made a lot of sense.) I think I'm gonna have tons of fun putting all my stuff away in the new room. I get my own furniture back. Yay!! And compared to my closet now there is a lot more space in the new closet. I only need half the rod space. The top of the closet has more room for my storage (but still commonly used stuff) bins. Right now one of those bins is underneath my bed. I have too much stuff. lol. I have to figure out where I want my bookshelves in the new room. I think they are going to be separated and put on different walls. Which is sort of sad because they have always been, all three, together. lol. Oh well.

Tonight we went over to Joesph's house and watched a movie. They were watching 'The Mission'. Before we started it I thought it was familiar. But I knew I had not seen it before. Then I saw that Ennio Morricone did the music. That's why it's familiar to me. I have a version of "Gabriel's Oboe" that is done by Chris Botti. I love it. There are some great actors in that movie. Namely, Liam Neeson. He is so young in it. lol. I don't how I feel about that. I like him now. But he is still a wonderful actor in that movie. The movie itself is somewhat depressing. But it was still good.

Long Day

Today I worked all day. I brought my computer so I could watch some ‘Stargate SG-1’ if I get really bored. At around 3ish I did watch an episode. I also put ‘The Lion King’ CD and ‘Aida’ CD on my computer. When I get home I need get the album information. I think I’ll watch an episode of something I’ve been missing and then go to sleep early too. I work tomorrow from 1pm to 6pm. When I got to work today I checked to see if I got my paycheck and I did. I don’t do direct deposit so my check gets mails to my house. Work was pretty slow. In the morning we did finish up stuffing envelopes for next sports tickets. I was mostly on the phones. I think I got five or six calls all day. Most of them were asking about what time the Black-Out Game starts on Oct. 29. But since this week’s game is an away game it was pretty quiet. At 5pm I was so ready to go home. Near the end I was yawning a lot. I had no doubt I’d sleep on the train ride home, which I did.

I went shopping with Lauren yesterday. We went to the dollar store and D.I. We were looking for good costume ideas and stuff. I already know what I’m doing this year for Halloween. So I was just collecting pieces for it. I have the main stuff now. There are a few minor detail things that would be fun to have but not necessary. And I don’t want to say what I’m doing until later. I’ll have a post on my costume closer to Halloween. (Probably on Halloween.)

I really need to find Satine a new heat pad soon. I’ll start looking online again once I know I have some money to buy one. I have looked in stores for one but it is impossible to find a heating pad that does not have an automatic shut-off. Since it’s getting to be winter weather I need to find her one soon.

Tomorrow some friends and I are going to a corn maze. Since I missed the ward FHE where they went to a corn maze, I’m looking forward to going to this one. We are going to Lauren’s house afterward for hot chocolate.

On Friday I need to do my laundry. I haven’t washed my clothes from the trip yet and I’m running out of things to wear. lol. I also need to wash my blankets and such. They are about due for a cleaning. So Friday will be a long laundry day not just a couple of hours. But that’s okay. I don’t have any plans to go anywhere. I just have a walk in the morning with Lauren and I might take a nap some time that day. I have a feeling I’ll be tired from working and the corn maze.

Josh Groban was on ‘The Office’ recently and I haven’t seen it yet but I’m sure he did a great job. The whole episode is on his website, via Hulu. I need to watch that sometime. Probably on Friday while I’m home. I think it’s great that Josh gets to do theatre/acting roles. That’s what Josh was going to school for before he dropped out to pursue his singing full-time. He loves both.

We have been watching ‘Person of Interest’ and I really like it. It’s a really interesting show. I love Jim Caviezel as a lead character. He hasn’t done small screen roles before this very often. There are a few odd jobs here and there but this show is his first big lead. I love it! I think Jim is a great looking guy. He’s 43 but I would not have guessed that. I thought he was in his mid-30s still. It seems like Jim has been on my actor radar for a while but he has only been acting in movies/tv since 1991. So in reality I would only know him from a few movies. I could probably name all the ones I have seen and heard of that he is in. I do remember seeing some movies, like Déjà vu, that Jim is in where I wasn’t expecting to see him. (He is awesome in that movie btw.)

Family Vacation - Monday

This morning we left for our family vacation. We aimed to leave at 9am. We woke up at 7am and had prayer. I actually didn’t sleep all that well last night. I woke up about three times. (Every time I woke up I got up and turned Satine’s heat on so she could stay warm. I really need to get a new heat pad again that stays on all the time. Sooner then later because it’s becoming wintertime.) Anyways, we all piled in the car after we were completely packed and the car wouldn’t start. lol. The battery had died down because the doors were open all morning. So we plugged in the battery charger and waited a few minutes. Then it started and we were officially on our way at 9:30am.

I read a little bit of the play for about an hour. I decided last week to read ‘The Winter’s Tale’ before we go and see it on Tuesday. It’s odd reading it and not seeing what is going on because I didn’t find out Hermione was pregnant until the second scene. And she’s really pregnant. She gives birth in the next scene. But knowing that she is makes the first part make more sense. In the biography that I read about Shakespeare, Stanley H. Wells said that Shakespeare’s plays really were made for an audience and a stage not necessarily for reading. So hopefully when we watch the play on Tuesday at the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City my family will not be confused. I won’t because I will have read the play by then.

On Saturday I asked, via Facebook, if anyone wanted to snake sit for me this week. Satine started shedding last week and with the weather predicted to be cold this week I felt more comfortable having someone check on her. I would have preferred to move her to someone’s house for the week because he heat pad that I am using now turns off after an hour and I like to keep it on as often as I can. Ammon, who so graciously volunteered, said his mom didn’t want her in the house. So I just gave him a key. I told him to come in the morning and turn the light on and the heat pad on. And then come again at night and turn the light off and turn the heat pad on again. I also asked him to fill up Satine’s water dish if it’s empty and to make sure her house/box is in the heat corner. She’ll be fine but I know that I’ll love seeing her when I get back. I always miss her when I go on a trip.

Today we stopped at Kolob Canyon in Zions on our way to Saint George. We went on a mile hike to a scenic lookout spot. It was really pretty. We could see the Grand Canyon too.

We got to Saint George a little after 3pm. We checked into our hotel and then Mom and Dad went and ran some errands. Steven and I went and swam in the pool for a half an hour. And Brian stayed in the room and worked on his talk that he is giving on Sunday. At 5pm we went to dinner at Iggy’s. I got the Parmesan Chicken with pasta. The idea was good but the food was just okay. I have had way better Parmesan Chicken made elsewhere. I did get a hot chocolate that was super yummy.

Tonight we went to see ‘The Little Mermaid’ at Tuachan. I thought it was great! I had heard the music before so I was really looking forward to seeing the musical. It was funny and really good. I liked how they used the stage to its full capacity. There were stage extensions and they had water on the stage and even fire and bubbles. It was great. Next season they are showing ‘Aladdin’. I didn’t know that Disney was making that one into a “Broadway” play.

We got back to the hotel after 11:30pm. I went to bed at about 12am.

And photos ... as always, click on them to make them larger.

Kolob Canyon

Kolob Canyon ... it's pretty.

We walked this mile long scenic trail. It was nice.

Steven and Brian and I all taking a photo of ...

... a little tiny lizard. lol.

That light blue mountain/rock is the rim of the Grand Canyon.

It's way out there.

The Hanging Valley ... I think that's so cool.

Due to copyright stuff, no pictures were allowed during 'The Little Mermaid' but I took this before it started. It really was an awesome show.

The Program is so simple. I really like it.

Conferences and Food

I was planning on going to the all day event that our stake was having for the Women's Conference that happened today. But last night I was just so tired that I decided not to. I turned off my alarms and slept in this morning.

When I woke up I weeded the front yard and put some jars in the dishwasher. We have been canning our apples that we got from our trees. When Dad and Brian got home from their motorcycle drive we started canning those. I only helped for an hour or so because I had to go change.

My stake had dinner before the Women's Conference tonight. It was good. They had baked potatoes with chili and other topping, salad, and rolls. The Women's Conference was really good. I really liked President Dieter F. Uchtdorf's talk. He is so funny.

After that was over I went to the pet store and got Satine some food. I think she's happy to have a full belly.

Satine Goes to Kindergarten

Satine and I went on a field trip to Challenger School this afternoon. As I mentioned the other day, Joe invited Satine and I to his class so the kids could learn more about snakes by actually seeing one. Joe talked with the other teachers and I guess they asked if I could come to their classes as well. So I went to show off Satine to three kindergarten classes. (I think they were all kindergarten classes.) I had a lot of fun. Little kids are great. I told about Satine and some general python facts. And then they got to ask me questions. If I left anything out they were sure to ask about it. A random question I got was "What happens if a bee stings the snake?" I have no clue as to how to answer that one. I told him bees don't sting snakes very often. But it is an interesting question. Then after they didn't have anymore questions they got to come up one by one and touch Satine if they wanted. (I advised the teachers to have the kids wash their hands afterward.) There was only two or three students in total who just wanted to look at her and not touch her. Since Satine still has shed-skin on her neck the kids got to see what it looks like when snakes shed. The rest of her body is pretty normal in color. I got the impression that everyone really liked seeing and touching a live snake. I had fun showing her to a bunch of five/six/seven year olds. Satine was her really sweet self for the the kids. I wasn't sure if she was gonna be scared of the groups or not. I figured I was there and she knows me so she felt comfortable. She only curled up once or twice, usually when I first walked into the class. She did go in my hair, which is down, once. The kids thought that was great. They didn't know why she would do that. I told her she looking for food or a dark place to sleep. Since she is a nocturnal snake she usually sleeps during the day and hunts at night. Because she is hungry when we went to the school she was flicking her tongue out and wanting to explore. It was great. The kids liked seeing her tongue. I was at the school for about an hour but it was really fun.

And now I am ready to feed Satine tonight and she can fully shed next week. I waited to feed her until after we went to the school. I wanted her to be snake-like and not digesting her food. It's not a good idea to hold her after she eats because she needs time to digest her food. I usually just wait until she has pooped. Then I know I can hold her without messing anything up. But I also don't handle her much when she is shedding. I let her try and shed all the skin herself.

Busy Week

I have a busy week this week.

Yesterday I went to the hospital to drop off a volunteer form. That will be nice if I can start volunteering there. It will help fill my day with something good. I also got a hold of Mike at the University of Utah. I set up an appointment to speak with him today.

So today I went to that appointment/interview to learn more about the job that I applied for. It's a cashier position for the ticket office. He gave me the job and I figured he would. When we talked yesterday it seemed like today he just wanted to tell me everything to see if I am still interested. Which I am. The job isn't much. Part-time working events and maybe some other shifts. Also it's minimum wage for now. I'll get a raise most likely in six months. I go in tomorrow for training and Mike will schedule me in to start work next week. So I now work at the University of Utah ticket office working at the Stadium.

Tomorrow, as stated, I go to training for an hour in the afternoon. But in the morning Ammon is taking me shooting. I have never been before and I thought I'd better go at least once. We'll see if I like it. I'll make sure I get some photos.

Thursday night I am going ice skating with some friends. That will be fun. I haven't been skating in a while.

And on Friday I am possibly bringing Satine to a kindergarten class that my friend, Joe, helps with. I told Joe I could even feed her there too, if the teacher thinks the kids would like that. He still has to get back to me about it all. But that will be interesting. Apparently the kids are learning about reptiles in science. The teacher asked Joe if he knew anyone with a snake who would be willing to show-and-tell. :) So if that is a go I have to think about how I'm going to transport her to the school. I think I'll bring her whole tank and feed her in there. I don't feed her in there most of the time but it'll be fine this once.

Saturday is the Women's Conference for church and my stake is making an all day event of it. We are going to a rope course and doing stuff like that. It'll be fun. They are also serving dinner before the Conference.

Update: Joe called me around 8:30pm tonight and told me he talked with his co-teacher and the supervisor and they are both excited about it but he needs to get approval from the curriculum person. He hopes to talk to them tomorrow so I'll know more then.

Hello, hello.

How is everyone doing? Good? Good.

Today I went on a walk with Lauren, like we do every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Afterward I had a strawberry fruit bar, sort like a popsicle, because it sounded really good. And it was really good. While I ate that I checked out Facebook and my email. Then I got ready for the day. It was a fun morning.

This afternoon was slow and boring. I looked for jobs, hopped around random websites (finding this, this, and this) and watched Stargate SG-1. I'm on season two right now. I think tomorrow I am going to "go back in Stargate time" and watch the Stargate movie. I really should have started with that. I was actually going to watch it before I started the tv series but I forgot. But I remembered today so that should be fun. It'll be odd having different actors play the characters but that's okay. I really like the actors who play Jack O'Neill and Daniel Jackson. Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks are very good looking men. And they are great actors. Actually the whole SG-1 team are great actors. There is Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson), Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks), Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping), and Teal'c (Christopher Judge). And yeah. Now I want to go watch a few more episodes. It's really good.

But first ... the rest of my day ...

This evening, around 8pm, my ward (and stake) was playing softball. I went to cheer the team on. I took Satine with me because I had been holding her for about an hour prior to that. I got her out to rub in some oil-stuff to help her shed her body. And I just continued to hold her. lol. It was interesting having her at the game. Because some people wanted to hold her and some people freaked out just seeing her. It was funny. I guess people don't see other people walk around with live snakes wrapped around their wrist that often. lol.

Satine

Last night I pulled Satine out and held her for a bit. I was getting concerned because she should have started to shed (ie. got rid of the digested mice) sooner then yesterday. I checked her. She is fine. She did have a bit of a respiratory problem but I checked her this morning and that red vein isn't so red in her mouth. So I'm hoping that cleared up. But I must have helped Satine with her bowel movements by holding her last night. She left the biggest poop I have ever seen in the tank. lol. Seriously, I was wondering how it came out of her. And she started to peel off her outer layer overnight too. She got it off her head but not her body. She was never an overall milky color so I figured that would happen. This morning when I was cleaning out her cage I put Satine around my neck/shoulders so that I could have two hands to get stuff out of the tank. She was cold. lol. And she snuggled close to my neck. aka: She constricted and tried to take in the warmth. lol. It felt really weird because she still has dead skin/shedding on her stomach and it felt weird when she was moving around. And then when I was ready to put her back in the clean tank she wouldn't uncurl from my neck. She really wanted to stay there. lol. I'll have to measure her tomorrow or something. It'd be interesting to know how big she is now. She's about two and half or three years old. I'd have to figure that out too. lol.

Here are a couple of photos taken a few minutes ago of Satine. She's curled up because she's a little cold. And she's resting. You can see some of the dead skin sticking up in the first photo.

Snakes in my TV?

Today I didn't get to a lot of things I wanted to get done. But that's okay most of it was busy work anyway. I folded the rest of my laundry and straightened up my room. I listened to Josh Groban while I did that, starting with 'Chess'. I can't believe he'll be here next weekend. It doesn't really seem like that long ago since I saw him in London. But it was nine months ago. I am glad he is having fun on his tour. We missed Josh during his four year hiatus. lol.

We watched the second Lord Of The Rings tonight. Remember we have the extended editions. So this one was three hours and twenty minutes long. It has some great scenes that aren't in the theatrical versions. I really like the scenes that are in the extended versions. One of the scenes in the second movie shows Boromir and Faramir and their father. It helps you to understand why the two sons did what they did. They just want what is best for their people and to please their father. Boromir is a good person he is just misguided. I really love the scenes in the end of the third movie. The House of Healing is one of my favorite scenes in the whole trilogy. And if you only see the theatrical versions you would not know what I talking about.

Today I noticed that Satine's eyes are blue-ish grey. So she might be a pain tonight because she is ready to shed. But her body wasn't milky so I have a feeling she isn't going to shed tonight. But within the next day or two she'll shed and I'll have a soft, happy snake again. :) It's odd to see her eyes like that because they are normally dark. She can't really see. It's funny, but sad at the same time. I put a book on top the tank just in case she rubs up there she won't make they lid come off. Anyways, when I put it on top she coiled her head quickly underneath her body. I scared her. It made me laugh. But I was sorry I scared her.

Tomorrow Ammon and I are going to see the newest 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie. What's the subtitle of it? Oh yeah. On Stranger Tides. I have heard that this movie is really good. Better then the other ones. I'm excited to go and see it.

Spelling M-I-C-E

I had so much fun doing the Starburst tutorial it got me thinking of others I could do. I could teach you how I fold my paper cranes. Or how I fold a box. Or both. But I'll be doing more tutorials as I think of them or do projects because it was fun.

Lately, I have been spelling because with the a and u switched and it's annoying. It happens all the time. Thank goodness the red squiggly line let's me know it's wrong. lol.

I fed Satine tonight. Ammon and I went to the Dollar Store and Target to look at some things and we were bored. While I was out I decided my baby needs some mice. So our last stop was Petco. I got two mice and Ammon was kind enough to chip in a couple of bucks so I could get two. :) Then we came back home and fed her. She always seems to be so happy after I feed her. Maybe it's all in my head. lol. But Satine does act happy. I know her personality and it's a cute one. :)
