Pinspiration: Drawer Dividers

I've been wanting to make drawer dividers for my bathroom for a while now. I wouldn't mind have fancy, clear, store bought ones someday but I wanted the drawer dividers now not later when I have money.

So I made my own.

I looked on Pinterest for some ideas. And I came across this post with dividers using balsa wood. I really liked them.

Inspiration: post on Pinterest, Original source here

So I got to work building my own.

I started by measuring the drawer that I wanted the dividers for. It's a 3"x10"x18" drawer. Then I went to Hobby Lobby and bought three strips of 3/23"x3"x24" balsa wood.

Here's my before shot. The drawer works as it is but I mostly wanted my makeup more accessible and out of that flowery case.

And here it is after. I really like how it turned out. I can reach everything without moving other things that are on top. It still looks kind of crazy but it'll work so much better.

... After.

We'll see how much I like it after using it for a few days.

Pinspiration: Outfit

I've decided to start blogging about some of the things I find from Pinterest that I try. And I do have some things I've already made that maybe I'll go back sometime soon and talk about. But for now we move forward.

So first up is an outfit that I wore yesterday to church. I saw this photo of a black strapless dress with a white blouse underneath a few weeks ago. I knew I had to wear it someday. With black heels and a high-top bun.

So after I looked in my closet and found the perfect blouse I picked a day to wear that black and white combo. I prepped my outfit by getting my LBD dry-cleaned. lol. It needed to be cleaned and I thought this was the perfect motivation to take it. I also decided to get some more jet black tights. I didn't know if I'd wear them but I needed some anyways. My other black tights have runs in them.

I ended up wearing my black tights and black heels with this outfit. I wore my hair up in a clip for sort of a messy bun look. Since my blouse has pearl buttons I wore pearl earrings to go with it. Overall I really liked how this look turned out. I might wear it again someday.

Catch-All Stand

I have been wanting to make a simple catch-all tray for my nightstand for a while now. The other day I got the inspiration I needed to go get the supplies. I saw this picture on Pinterest and I knew that's what I wanted to make.

So I made a trip to the Dollar Tree and picked up a couple of plates and smaller bowls. The bowls are more like pasta plates or salad plates. They are shallow bowls. I like that it has that bowl shape but it's still flat. I also got several short, clear candle holders.

I glued the candle holders to the two bowls Saturday. I glued them opposite of each other. One has the base at the bottom and the other has the base glued to the bowl. I like both looks. I stuck a pile of heavy books on top of each and I let them dry for a couple of days. Overnight would have been fine but I did the gluing on a Saturday and then didn't get to the project until Monday (today). (You can see in the photo below how I glued them "opposite" of each other.)

I decided not to glue the bowl to the plate because I'm not sure if I want it in the center or off to the side. I'll just set it on until I decide for sure. I have been having it off to the side and I really like it that way. I can place my rings and earrings and small things in the bowl and the larger things (like my keys, mail, glasses, or whatever) on the plate bottom.

I like it a lot. It fills the space back there quite nicely. And I like having two tiers. It gives me more room and I won't clutter the rest of the nightstand too much. lol.

P.S. Someday I'll upgrade that lamp.
