Eggs, Scales, and Pages

So I was typing and typing this blog post and then I hit some key and deleted the entire entry. Which is fine I can just undo it and it should come back, right? Wrong! Blogger auto-saved my blank document right when that happened. Normally I like the auto-save feature but not right now. I wish it was more like Microsoft Word's auto-save. It saves every 20 minutes after you initially save the document. Or something like that. I know it auto-saves at a good length of time, not after every minute of change. So yeah, now I have to retype all that I was talking about. And it was so long and good. I'm annoyed and not in the mood to retype it all. Grrr!

* Twelve hours later *

Okay, let’s type this …

For Easter Chad and Amber and family came and spent Sunday with us. Cayden and Laura are still adorable. lol. We colored eggs and I helped Cayden. First Cayden and I colored an egg using crayon while Mom mixed the dyes. Then we dipped it in green for a few seconds and Cayden was fascinated. The egg went from white to green before his very eyes. lol. After that we didn’t color with crayon. We proceeded to dye all dozen eggs that were allotted to Cayden different colors. He kept picking purple but I think that’s because it was the closest color to him. I am really surprised I didn’t get any dye on my clothes. We came close to spilling a few times. I had to keep reminding Cayden that the spoon stays in the cup. lol. I tried to vary the length of time that the egg got dyed so there was some sort of variety in color. I think Cayden had a lot of fun. I know Amber got some photos of Cayden egg dyeing. They are on her blog.

Since Kim and I haven’t had a girl’s night out for a few months we decided to plan one for this week. The plan is to go to dinner and a movie. I was actually thinking it’d be fun to see ‘The Hunger Games’. That will be fun to hang out with Kim. It’s been way to long since the two of us had our Girl night.

For FHE on Monday they played games outside. They had Capture the Flag and several Frisbees. We brought our Bocce ball set and played some of that with a few people few the first bit. Mostly I tossed a Frisbee around. Eric has this really awesome one that goes really far. I like that one. I can’t remember what it’s called. I think I got a few mosquito bites when the sun went down.

When we were leaving FHE I got asked on a date for this weekend. On Saturday I have a date with a guy named Colton. I really like talking with Colton we always laugh a lot. He is really funny. I have actually thought it’d be fun to go out with Colton but I haven’t asked him. So it’s nice that he asked me. lol. I’m not sure what we’re doing yet but it’ll be fun.

After FHE we watched TRON (the original, not TRON: Legacy) that Eric borrowed from the library. Colton and I weren’t really paying attention to the movie in the first place so we went upstairs and played on the Wii. We played a couple of rounds of Wii Sports golf. Then we switched over to LEGO Star Wars (which I have been slightly obsessed with that game lately. It’s really fun. I like it.) We played with some of the extras on like the one where all of our characters where glasses and mustache disguises. lol. General Grievous and C-3PO look really funny with those on. lol.

I fed Satine last week. The intent was to feed her two mice. But she only ate one. She killed both but she didn’t eat the second one. I’m not sure if she just didn’t want it or if her shedding (or lack thereof) contributed. She couldn’t really see of feel very well because she still had dead skin on her head. The night I fed her I let her alone in her cage. But the next afternoon I took her out and helped her shed all that skin off. She was flaky shedding so I just took a warm washcloth and rubbed from her neck to her tail a few times. Her dead skin came right off and she is so pretty. Then I went to town on getting the skin off her head. I carefully peeled off the skin from her nose and the chunk of skin went from her nose off her eyes and down her neck a little. It was cool. I had a little piece to get off the top of her head. But that was it really. Satine seemed so happy after she could see and breathe better. She still has some skin on her neck but if I can’t easily get it off then I leave it alone. I don’t want to hurt her. lol. When I was getting all the skin off of Satine (both her head and her body) she just sort of sat there. She seemed so relaxed. And she seemed really happy after she could see. lol. If she could smile I’m sure she would have.

For past couple of weeks I have been waiting for my book to get to the library. I few days ago I finally got it. I am reading Tess of the D’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy. I have seen the BBC mini-series that was done a couple of years ago so reading the book is great. I don’t remember much of the show though so it’s still new to me. I do know that the Alexander character that she just met is not to be trusted. I keep telling her not to go because he is bad. But of course Tess doesn’t listen to me. lol.

Thoughts on the Past Month

Warning: This is a long post. :)

Okay. So I have not gotten on my blog for a long time. But I have sort of a good reason. I didn't add my gmail email as an admin until today so it was a pain to login to my other google account just to post on the blog. But I did change them all over so now I don't have to worry about it. Technically I can sign in now using either account. lol.

Work has been going great. The football renewals have been going on and the first week or so was really busy but now it's just steady and sort of busy. I like it. It helps that I worked football games last year but this is still completely new to me. Until we have our first football game I'm still in my first year working here at the U of U ticket office. lol.

I have been reading a lot of books in the past couple of months. I read The Hunger Games series (by Suzanne Collins) in a week. I really liked them. I think I'll have to add them to my library. And after that I read the Glass series by Maria V. Snyder. Actually I'm still reading the third and last book but I expect to be done with that soon. lol. I really like those. Let's see... Before The Hunger Games I read a couple of other Maria V. Snyder books. She wrote a science fiction duo that are really good. (Inside Out and Outside In) I have to figure out what I am going to read next. Maybe I'll just pull a random one from my book list and borrow it from the library.

My brother and his wife had their second child a couple of weeks ago. The first baby girl of the Next generation Higgins'. lol. Laura Amber Higgins is so cute.

Ooh! I did renew my membership to Friends Of Josh Groban (FOJG). It's actually a fun story. Since I don't have my own, I was planning on borrowing a credit card and paying the person back in cash after I got paid. But the night before I was going to do this a Grobanite posted on Twitter that she had an extra membership paid for that she was willing to gift to someone who wanted it. I was the first person to respond. lol. She let me have the membership with no strings attached. She just wanted me to pay it forward and do something nice for someone else. I promised I would. I was so happy that I could use the membership. We weren't sure how it worked with "current" members but it was actually very simple and straight forward. I am still not on FOJG as often as I'd like to. In fact I haven't been on the boards for a couple of weeks. But it's all my fault for not taking the time to spend a few minutes chatting with my friends. I have been so tired the last few weeks. But I'm attempting to change that. lol.

I hung out with my friend, Laura, last weekend and it was a lot of fun. I was at her apartment watching tv shows and playing with her kids until 2am. It was lots of fun. She mentioned that her one-year-old Joshua really likes me. I really don't know why. She said Dylan, her ten-year-old, really likes me too. I think I'm just too nice. lol. I do really like kids and her kids are so fun and easy to get along with. I love being around them. Little Josh smiles a whole lot and laughs and plays with me. It's cute. Laura said they are drawn to this happy aura I have. Or something along those lines. lol. I think I just really want children of my own. lol. Holding Baby Laura and hanging out with my friend Laura has re-instilled the want for children. *sigh* Eventually, I will have kids. I just need a husband first. lol.

Last Friday after I got off work I spent the afternoon at the new City Creek Center. It's the new complex that is in Downtown Salt Lake City. It is a mall and has apartments and offices and a gym and even a grocery store. It's awesome. I loved walking around and seeing it all. Mostly City Creek Center is a mall. I stopped into Desert Book, H&M, and Claire's. I wanted to stop into a few other stores but they were so crowded with people that I decided the deals and opening weekend giveaways weren't quite worth it. lol. But soon I want to go again and go into Tiffany's and the Disney Store and a few other places. I also didn't take the time to watch the fountain show while I was there Friday. But I did see part of it on the news the day before. It not only has music and water for the show it has fire! How cool is that!? I'll have to video tape it and show you when I go next.

When I was at the mall I bought a new and spacious purse from H&M. I really like it. I also got a ring watch from Claire's. I have been wanting one for a while. I don't like wearing wrist watches and I got tired of pulling out my phone to check the time. I've had it for a little less then a week and I love it. I wear it on my left hand middle finger. The ring is a darker silver color. I like it.

Plans for summer are becoming fun. I have a family vacation in May/June and then a wedding to attend in late June. Then my ward is going on their super activity the first weekend in August. I am really excited for them all. I have been trying to save my money for the wedding trip. I am driving to CO with my brother and possibly one of his friends. But I need to clamp down on the purse strings so I know I'll have enough money for gas and such when it's time to go.

Cayden and stuff

Today was okay. I looked for jobs and watched 'Stargate.' Also, Lauren and I moved our walks to half an hour earlier. So I got up at about 8:15am. It was nice walking at that time because it wasn't as hot.

Tonight I babysat my nephew, Cayden, few a couple of hours. We watched 'Cars' because he love "Queen" (Lightning McQueen) and cars in general. Half way through he got bored or something, he stopped paying attention to the movie so we went on a walk. And then when we came inside we watched the rest of the movie. I should mention that Cayden is two years old so he has a somewhat short attention span sometimes. But he is a cutie. After the movie we played outside for a bit. Cayden wanted to feed the horses apples because someone (*cough* Grandpa/Dad *cough*) showed him that a little while ago. Cayden just thinks it's the most awesome thing in the world to feed the horses. The problem tonight was that the horses who roam around in the back weren't there. Cayden kept asking about the "Neighs" so after we played with the ball we grabbed a couple of fallen whole apples and went around to our neighbor's backyard. They have two horses. We, I, threw the apples, one at a time, over the fence and we watched the horses eat the apples. After that we came back to the yard and played with my yoga ball outside. Cayden likes that ball. It's giant and bouncy. (It's not really meant to be outside. But I figure a two year old kicking it around on grass for a few minutes won't hurt it. The ball does need to be filled with air. But that too can wait since it's not really in use. Anyways ...) After Cayden and I were outside we came inside and I was running out of ideas. I knew that everyone should be home in a few minutes I just had to distract him for a little bit longer. So I pulled out our bucket of toy cars. He loved that. Then people came home and we had ice cream. Overall, I had fun watching Cayden. But it is a lot of work trying to keep a toddler interested and not asking where his mother is every five minutes. Seriously, he was sort of clingy. But he didn't through a fit or anything. He just kept asking. And I would answer. lol.

Meh Sunday

Today was good. Church was good. My little brother, Brain, got ordained an Elder in church today. He goes through the temple for his endowments on Wednesday. I don't have my endowments so I cannot participate in that. I get to stay home and watch the toddler. But that'll be fun.

I didn't do anymore work on that book like I wanted to today. I will tomorrow. I also have several ideas on what to use the cut out pages for. I'll see if that idea works after I finish the hollow book.

I did get to watch four episodes of 'White Collar' (one whole disc) tonight. That was nice. Now we just have three more episodes and the first season will be done. Which reminds me, I haven't watched any of the current season for a few weeks. Ditto on 'Torchwood'. I guess I'll be watching some tv shows tomorrow as well.

Right now this makeup is starting to make me sleepy. So I'm going to go take it off and then go to sleep.
