Random Things

Some cool and random things I found today ...

... and ...

a lovely drawing of Severus Snape that tugs at the heartstrings. (found here)

He is looking into the Mirror of Erised and he sees Lilly. So sweet and sad. He is the bravest man in the whole series. *wipes away tear* He is also my favorite next to Lupin.

... and ...

an AWESOME drawing of Harry Potter as an anime. I love everything about it. (found here)

I can name everyone but one person. :) The only one I can't name is below the Weasley family, next to Professor Minerva McGonagall. The witch/wizard in purple. I'm not sure who that is supposed to be.

Papering the Town (and Aragorn)

I slept in today. I should have gotten up earlier but I didn't go to bed until 3am. It's totally my fault. I'll try better tonight. (But we are watching LOTR so it'll be around midnight or one.)

This afternoon Dad and I drove around and stopped at a few places that we thought would be good to apply to. Some of them I have to apply online, but now I know. And others I have potential interviews at. (I go back to Red Robin to interview with the manager, Joe, on Thursday.) They are all retail/food places and I don't really want to work in that environment but I am not finding anything else. And I know that it will help me be more secure in talking with strangers if I get any of these positions. Right now I am not really comfortable talking with strangers. I never have been. But I have been trying to be more outgoing in that regard and maybe this is the push I need. And like Dad always says once you get a job it's easier to find a better one. I have several other places that I want to apply for. So I need to look them up and apply online or print an application or just walk in. I'll do some of that tomorrow.

Today (in between doing laundry) I made some peanut butter cookies for the movie tonight. I LOVE them. I am always happy making them. :) I doubled the recipe today. So I have 24 instead of a dozen.

And (as mentioned several times in this post alone, not to mention yesterday rambling) tonight about seven of us watched the first Lord of the Rings movie. We have the extended versions so this one was about three and a half hours long. These versions are so good!!

And now I'm falling asleep and it is just after 00:30. (Um, sorry. That would be 12:30am to us regular USA folk.) So I'm going to go put on some PJs and work on a Sudoku puzzle. (I do that every night. It helps my mind focus and calm down from the day. Yes, I know. It is odd.)

Typical Sunday

Today being Sunday not much happens. I go to church and have family dinner in the dining room. It's just a day spent with family, for the most part. We (Mom, Dad, Brian, and I) played Canasta Caliente (more info) tonight. It was fun. Brian and I were partners and we started slow but the last couple of rounds we got a lot of points and Mom and Dad got a lot of negative points. That was cool. lol.

Tomorrow there is no FHE because of the (Utah) holiday. (When Pioneer Day falls on a Sunday we get Monday as a holiday.) So a group of our friends are going to watch the first Lord Of The Rings movie. We (mostly I) asked people to bring something dessert-wise. So we'll have lots of different foods there. It's gonna be fun. We have the extended versions of the LOTR on DVD. They are so much cooler then the theatrical version. There are a lot of scenes that I loved from the books that are not in the "original" versions that are in these. (Mostly in the third movie but a few in the other two as well.) Tomorrow we are only watch The Fellowship Of The Ring. I hope that we watch two (The Two Towers) and three (The Return Of The King) sooner then later. Because this is a trilogy that I like to watch close together. Usually I like to marathon them all together. But people have work tomorrow so it's not really a good option tomorrow. But it would have been fun if we could. I have done it several times before. Sometimes with just my brothers but other times with my friends (or their friends). (All three extended version have a run time of about 11 hours. That includes credits.) They are good movies. I should add them to my personal collection someday. :)

Today = Laziness

Not much has happened today. I slept in really late today. When I was eating lunch/breakfast I was watching tv and there was a National Geographic Magazine's Top 10 Photos Of 2010 show. It was very interesting to see the stories behind some of the photos of the past year. And it also got the photographer inside of me excited to photograph. To bad there is nothing around that is photo worthy. I was going to watch Torchwood too, today, but the website I get them from doesn't have a good one yet so I have to wait a bit longer before I can watch the third episode. I really need to read some Shakespeare plays next week. I am running behind on the schedule. I also, finally, need to go through my computer and change some things. (ie. Facebook, passcodes, email addresses, etc.) But, yeah, today was totally a lazy day. I'm actually still in my PJs. That's how boring and lazy I was. lol.

Saturday Songs: Higher Window

Higher Window
by Josh Groban

For all the times I tried for this
And every chance at you I missed
I’ve been known to go my way, but I confess
It made me miss you more

I drew my line across the sand
And set my flag in no man’s land
But here I am the one man band
With a song that’s meant for two

And there is a light, from a higher window
Shining down on you tonight
And the music floats on the breeze
Bringing an easier time
And all of our cards are on the table
Tell me what you want to do
Just don’t tell me that it’s too late
For me to love you

How perfect we were meant to be
Our warm and silent symmetry
It’s times like these when all, all we need
Is to be reminded

And I have flown a thousand miles
To empty room and crowded aisles
And we went from cathedral bells
To show and tell and wish you wells
And I, I still look at you and I am blinded I am blinded

Because there is a light, from a higher window
Shining down on us tonight
And the music floats on the breeze
From an easier time

And all of our cards are on the table
Tell me what you want to do
Just don’t tell me that it’s too late
Don’t tell me that it’s too late now
Just don’t tell me that it’s too late
For me to love you

The first time I heard Josh Groban sing this song I cried. It's just so pretty. I love this song. It's even more beautiful when Josh sings it live. I cried when I saw him in London and I cried when I saw the music video. It's a lovely video. So have a look for yourself.

A Busy Work Day (Mostly)

This morning I helped Dad put some more shingles on the roof. We just have the two strips that go all the way up the house (one now) and the back dormers by the kitchen to shingle. And then the roof is all done. It's also really grippy now so it's not a huge dangerous endeavor walking on the roof now. The old ones were so far gone the was no rocky tread stuff. lol.

Today I also went mini-golfing with Ammon. It was fun. We decided to go at 10:30am so that it's not super hot or really crowded. Afterward we went to Iceberg and got shakes. I got a peanut butter shake and Ammon got a black raspberry shake. Mine was really good. (It still is good. lol.)

We (Ammon and I) decided to start watching Stargate SG-1 so we watched a couple of episodes of that. It's pretty good. It reminds me of Star Trek sometimes. (Not that I ever watched a lot of Star Trek. lol.)

Dad decided to clean the fish tank today and I was helping with it. We completely cleaned it out. Now there is no slime at the bottom and the pH and everything is balanced and good. We also decided to finally get new decorations. We got a sand castle and a new rock and some new plants.

We watched a movie tonight. (Like most Fridays we watch a movie.) We watched Rango tonight. I thought it was cute. Johnny Depp did a wonderful job voicing the chameleon.

Mission Called

Brian is going to the Wisconsin Milwaukee Mission. He reports to the MTC (Missionary Training Center) on November 2. And he is speaking English.

He seems really excited about it. And I know that he'll do a lot of good helping people come unto the Gospel. I wish him all the best.
